My personal opinion on the matter is if you want to call yourself a knight regardless of faction or guild, you are free to do so. How you back up that claim is up to you. Just be realistic with your lore and don't claim to have been knighted by the great king of some foreign land or something.

A nickname/anonymity system was attempted in the past but it did not work out so well with the game mechanics. However, we do currently have the NOTE command in place where you can make your own list of names and assign their description or anything else you like.

All three of the listed scenarios do not involve smelting down items for metal. So yes in all three. However if you were to smelt down a great axe then take that and smelt it together with an ore smelted bar, then no. The impurity carries over.

There is nothing wrong with having more than one character. The problem lies in that many of us have a limited amount of time to play, which means the more you spread yourself out, the less of a single character we see and therefore we have less ability to understand what each character is all about...

I also forgot to note that tainting is indeed an 'affliction' and is sometimes given to characters for behavior we deem as warranted for it, even if they themselves do not wish to be tainted. However, we will often provide a way for them to return to normal.

Next time the bug command might be a little more appropriate for something such as this. It was a simple tag that was missing. All future gauntlets made with the forging system from now on should work.
