Re: Emoting and Roleplaying *Mancy

You are welcome to RP research in any way you like, just keep in mind that nothing should be successful or be considered canon unless the GMs have given it their approval. Please keep in mind the guidelines and do so with caution, both OOC and IC.

Re: Emoting and Roleplaying *Mancy

*Note: this is my opinion and not official policy and may be amended further by the developer as he sees fit* As a general rule we do like it when characters use magic in their emotes and other personal custom messaging. The reason behind this is magic has always been a sensitive lore topic and we h...

Re: Hey, I wanna be tainted!

I've only spent time roleplaying with one person who is tainted. Is being tainted suppose to cause specific behavioral changes, or is that up to the person being tainted to roleplay? Mostly up to you but you gotta figure that such changes are considered not a good thing and would probably affect th...

Re: Hey, I wanna be tainted!

There is nothing wrong with having more than one character. The problem lies in that many of us have a limited amount of time to play, which means the more you spread yourself out, the less of a single character we see and therefore we have less ability to understand what each character is all about...

Re: Hey, I wanna be tainted!

I also forgot to note that tainting is indeed an 'affliction' and is sometimes given to characters for behavior we deem as warranted for it, even if they themselves do not wish to be tainted. However, we will often provide a way for them to return to normal.

Hey, I wanna be tainted!

Hey, I wanna be tainted! This request has often come up by many players so I thought I would shed a little light (or darkness) on the subject. If you wish to be tainted or to be stronger in the light, this can only be achieved via roleplay means. There were a few scripted instances where a slight ta...

Re: Newer Gauntlets Cannot be Used to Attack

Next time the bug command might be a little more appropriate for something such as this. It was a simple tag that was missing. All future gauntlets made with the forging system from now on should work.

Re: Simple Division (Metalworking)

Smelting has been due for an overhaul but the stars never aligned for it to be done and the choice between overhauling smithing and smelting was on the table. Obviously smithing won out. Next time we might have a choice between something such as overhauling leatherworking or smelting... So you see t...

Re: Buggy Animates

Animates have always been a bit buggy and this is a known issue that has sort of become set in stone as an accepted bug. They work well enough to be useful but they should not be considered a 100% polished item either. At this point the choice is between having them as is or not at all. There are ma...

Re: Parrans

As much as I can agree that your reasoning for another language would make sense, the game balance and race mechanics would not be balanced. One of the core ideas behind our initial race choice was that they are 'mostly' for roleplay purposes only. We DO NOT want players picking a race based on stat...

Re: Is it possible to not autoexamine forged items?

I cannot divulge that information as it could still present a problem with past or future systems. I have no doubt that there are those who understand what exploitable systems I am referring to but I ask that you please do not share any knowledge or speculation on it. I am sorry I cannot make it a l...

This was added very intentionally to avoid possible exploits that existed with the previous system.

Re: armor appraisal

Something like this is doable. But there wouldn't be much more use for it other than just armor. Now a complete skill that allows you to scry the magic affects of other things in the world as well might be a little more useful. Such as using loremastery to understand how this spiffy new material fro...

It means that to make a wooden hilt or haft via forging, you will need a wooden stave.

Re: Calling All Blacksmiths!

A word of warning. Be careful having too many items on the forge and workbench at once. Both code wise and in real life, if you have things you care about on your work and hammering surface... bad things can happen. Also still accepting custom messaging if any care to submit any.

Re: Calling All Blacksmiths!

Feel free to pull in some random tools or scrap items 'you find around the shop' *wink wink*. This is ok for minor things but if the shield is made mainly of something other than metal then that is when the entire process needs to be changed or it may not be suitable for forging. By the way, I did c...

Re: Calling All Blacksmiths!

Casting is more in the smelting department. (Not something we are doing in these descriptions) Once again we get some real life to game vagueness but you don't really need to work copper or bronze the same way you would iron or steel but for the sake of the game and the process we just sort of 'assu...

Looks good! Just a few points to consider though. '[add your crafting mark, ] ' I currently do not have a special word to plop in the crafting mark and there is also the situation where they may not have a crafting mark or have it turned off. In this case it would work if I left it blank but it is s...

Re: Calling All Blacksmiths!

Correct, the new system was designed to be backwards compatible with the old. This will allow existing weapon parts to be carried into the new system. So no problems taking your masterfully-crafted celestium longsword blade from the old system and finishing it with the new.

For now just existing weapons. However, I do have a few mystery items that are waiting to be discovered when this is released. I plan to do the text for those myself to keep them extra mysterious.
