Re: A newbie critique on traveling, hunger, and cold

This post isn't meant to argue one way or another, but to just explain a little what the mindset was behind these mechanics when they were created. When I designed these systems, the thing at the fore of my mind was "would I want to play this game?" I always strove for a balance between realism (whi...

Re: injuries from nether

I say go for it. If you want to go over more particulars of how exactly they're troubling your character, feel free to send me a PM on the BBS here with more information about it so we don't get any more spoileriffic to the masses. I'd be happy to put some of your concerns to rest.

I didn't take part, but I got numerous messages from people saying how much they were enjoying this as it went on and they tried to puzzle things out. Now I'm wishing I had played!

Re: A Lonely Ride

This was an awesome read! Ruin really is the best horse. I'd love to read more stuff like this, both from Dorn and other players. It's great to enjoy the writer's talent and see a glimpse of their characters through their own writing, and a bit more selfishly, I just love seeing people appreciate th...

Re: adjustment to Templar abilities?

Taking one or both of the Quickchannel abilities can also reduce channel drop woes, in that it takes less roundtime to open channels.

Re: adjustment to Templar abilities?

Thaumaturgy already has a very significant advantage just by nature of being thaumaturgy, when it comes to channel drop rates due to armor - it's much less likely to drop than other types of channeling, even without the Serafina's Blessing ability. No ability required. That said, it's still troubles...

Re: Minor Animation functioning on nethrim

Minor Animation is essentially jump-starting a human corpse that is still fit for normal, organic life, with all its organs and systems still intact. That's why the target can't have sustained any vital wounds - the body's as alive and biologically functioning as it ever was, the natural biology tak...

More animals affected by druidry

The recently-released animals, and a few older animals that were omitted by mistake, are now affected by druidry abilities. If you notice any other creatures that are unaffected by druidry but feel like they should be, let us know.

Thanks to Noccy for handling the codey side of this update.

Re: Dwaedn Weapon Alterations

Rooms that perform repairs will have something next to the room name. In this case, it says (paid metal repairs). The syntax should be: REPAIR MY <WEAPON> or for example, REPAIR MY WARSWORD

It looks like Haurlief will repair your stuff for you. And apparently it's been that way for a while, because when checking for repairs he handed me a repaired knife I had forgotten I gave him to repair years ago.

P.P.S. It turns out this is actually in the Wyrewood forest, not Vaelgraten. Back in MY day, Vaelgraten was huge and covered a wide area and blah blah blah ...

P.P.P.S.Original post updated to give the correct area.

Beware the Rakkan!

In a strange recent fad, many people have been sporting apparel made of what is being called "rakkan fur" - a fine, deep brown fur. Rumors have been circulating that these "rakkan" can be found in the mountains deep in the Wyrewood Forest, though the frequency of the phrase "Beware the Rakkan" accom...

Shardling updates

A few updates to the shardlings we all know and love: - They are no longer considered serpents by the code, and so no longer "slither" from room to room. (Those who have fought them over the years have surely noticed they occasionally would strike one of the shardling's four legs .) - They are now L...

Re: Groinkick to work on both genders

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. Nobody has claimed that females are immune to pain or injury in the groin area. gender equality I figured the term was used in a tongue-in-cheek way in your first post, but you're keeping at it so I've now moved into "not sure if serious" territory. Jus...

Church falls on hard times

The church on the south side of Shadgard has fallen on hard times recently, it seems. As many know, there were recent requests by local church officials for any information regarding a break-in at their administrative office. In addition to that, however, has been a general murmur among citizens tha...

Re: saddle-bags instead of saddlebags

I'm going to suggest a shift in tactics, Kent: encouragement works better than discouragement. To quote a very wise wizard: "I know that sounds like a cat poster, but it's true." There have been several merchants around the last few weeks, including some which could alter horse blankets and saddleba...

P.S. Not that I'm saying it would be bad to be used as a less-effective brief stun or something on female targets.

Re: Groinkick to work on both genders

I don't think anyone's arguing that a woman getting kicked in the groin would not feel any pain, but rather that it wouldn't have a highly debilitating nausea-inducing agonizing effect comparable to that of males, and that's the whole point of the ability.

Brackenridge Wildlife

Brackenridge Pass now has some local wildlife! Travelers making their way through the main pass are likely to spot mottled crag marmots and stonehoof rams, both content to allow humans to pass but nonetheless ready to defend themselves if attacked. Those more intrepid explorers heading into the high...

Jackdaw Trail wildlife

Two new critters can be found wandering about Jackdaw Trail: shardtine caribou and broadpaw lynx. Both will avoid getting too close to humans unless aggressively approached, in which case they will defend themselves - that is to say, they won't attack you unless you attack them first. Both yield pel...
