Today I learned that using candles as conduits for the Inner Light and Serafina's blessings is satanic.
Comparing apples and oranges. I was talking about the means used (the ritual item), and you switched it up to the ends desired.

Re: Monk ability suggestion

I think this is an interesting idea, but worry about it being a bit imbalanced. Bypassing the limitation on exhaustion isn't something other groups can do, and having a limitless bypass of a core game mechanic strikes me weird. Everyone can bandage while exhausted currently. The suggestion wasn't t...

Degrades for leather repaired items too severe

It took me a long time to finally produce a masterfully crafted pair of fur gauntlets (it is substantially rarer than masterworked in metal) and they got scuffed. Not battered or damaged, merely scuffed. I have a rather high skill in leather working. I repaired them, and they degraded not just one l...

Re: Monk ability suggestion

Nice suggestion. Syntax could be 'tourniquet' which would only work for a monk with this ability, and this command would bypass the hostiles check.

Re: Monks under review

The spirit candle thing seems "sort of" interesting, yet I would have to say it also seems a bit too satanic for the monks of this game. The candles thing seems maybe in this universe to better suit Rooks, and/or perhaps that spider cult and the blood cult (either about which admittedly I know nothi...

Re: neckerchief masks - too thin to muffle one's voice

Come on, Kent. If anyone has panache to spare, it's you. Even so: Any ideas to make the bandana masks more obvious so they can afford to lose the muffle? Yes, my idea would be, Kent says to you, talking through his bandana, "Do you have any weapons for sale?" There we have the indication that we ca...

Re: Making ESP Rescue messages a little clearer / more personable

You like to contradict, don't you, Ironcross? I made the suggestion to benefit newcomers who don't know what's going on, not to keep you happy. I there still remains some ambiguity about the message, and if you go into a church or crypt you will see a stack of bodies of Player Characters, most of wh...

Re: "Hey! That's supposed to be IC!!!"

Thanks for reminding me that I'm the bad one. Especially when my impolite request was "That's too IC, guys." See, if you hadn't told me, I wouldn't have known how impolite that was. And thanks for pre-insulting me for making this post. I'm glad that your response just above doesn't fall into the cat...

"Additionally, unless you are a mentor or a GM, it really shouldn't be your place to moderate chat and question. " I get that the intention of the post was to go easy on newcomers (is it?) So just now I was asking players (not newbie players) not to use chat to discuss item properties and other game...

brewing beer
cooking/baking -- then delivering food to orphanage as a task
finding herbs
growing herbs/vegetables
delivering scrolls

plus tasks they already have

Re: Monks under review

The last time I played, after doing guild tasks in solitude for a couple hours because no one was responding to my services on ESP, I spotted someone with light wounds in the same room, tried to engage conversation with them, and politely asked them if they wished to be healed, only to be informed ...

Re: Monks under review

It's frustrating both for the monk and for the people who would like to have the monks teamed up with them that the monk can't participate in the spoils. This is why I suggested that monks be allowed to accept cash (for example, share command) and then donate half of their income to the donation box.

So gambling is an exception but not murder? And blunt weapons like staves, which are arguably torture, are preferable to sharp? These things don't diminish light?
When someone attacks you first, it is not murder to fight back; it is self-defence. What is murder is what those aggros do to people.

Re: Monks under review

When the fun went out of being a monk, people stopped logging in as monks with any reasonable frequency. When it became the fact that in most sessions when you logged in, there was no PC monks anywhere, we all lost out. I say, let monks earn all they can (except through gambling), but have to donate...

neckerchief masks - too thin to muffle one's voice

I get it when someone wears a full war greathelm, the thickness of that is going to muffle your voice.

I would like to request that when wearing a cotton or linen neckerchief, that no muffling effect would be caused when speaking. It's just too thin to modify the voice.

Re: Fish pricing

Not that I fully agree but fishing has always been a low riln profession, even says so on the wiki. I think the real value is in the potential for cooking and sit-down food for morale. Well, food is food, and in my opinion people ought to pay more for fresh fish than for gristly and unpalatable mea...

Making ESP Rescue messages a little clearer / more personable

For those of us that have played a while, this suggestion won't make any difference. But for newcomers, the messages that ensue with 'ESP rescue <mssg>' are confusing. I would recommend some clarity brought to these messages along these lines, also to de-objectify the persons being recovered. Curren...

Giving riln to your horse wearing saddlebags

Also, it would be nice if, when your horse is wearing saddlebags, to be able to use the same syntax as giving money to other characters, which would be

give stallion 78

instead of the more bulky syntax we must do now, which is Put 78 riln in saddlebags

or

Making the handling of Stow and Stash containers easier

Would it be possible to code it so that the word 'Stow' could be a substitute for the container set for stowing, for example, after typing Stow Set Backpack, we could use these commands: Look in stow Get poultice from stow open stow close stow and similar commands; and the same thing for 'Stash'? It...
