Re: Wardens in 2020

Many times we have people join only to leave once they've gotten bored because they cannot take how roleplay heavy the group is, so care is taken in choosing. Going to be maybe a little too blunt here: I am taking a break from CLOK (and my Warden) not because the Wardens are too RP-heavy, but becau...

Re: Cache of questions

1. The mummer abilities, is it implied that anyone can learn it... no genetic quirks like elemancy or something? I can't speak for Mummer abilities, but it's worth noting that Elemancy does not require genetic quirks. Technically, anyone can learn it. http://bbs.contrarium.net/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=...

Re: Guild Shop Request: Writables

True. And mechanically they're the same. But from a roleplay perspective, I'm not sure charcoal is a good permanent material for writing books in. But it's a good point!

Guild Shop Request: Writables

I've seen some requests in this subforum for additions to the guild shop that were accepted, so I thought I'd make my own. The Wardens have a library. I've made it kind of a personal IC mission to fill it with more scrolls and books, talking to other players for things to add as a way to involve peo...

How to contact NPCs?

More than once now, I've had a character need or desire a conversation with an NPC that either doesn't have a visible name (An old, weary herbalist or something along those lines) or does not operate in civilization, making npcmail not an option for getting in contact as I have no name to mail and/o...

Re: The Dangers of Dying

Weighted don't benefit skill gain at all. Your maximum roll is the same, but you're more likely to fail, making gains worse, not better. Much like abilities like Lightfoot do not increase your maximum dice pool, just weight your rolls to be closer to your maximum, making you succeed more often witho...

Re: The Dangers of Dying

I should have made it more clear (posting while sleep deprived is likely unwise): I'm largely agreeing with the idea. I would apply it even to retrievals, if I'm honest. My mention of lore was only intended to be in response to "if recklessness is IC," not a contradiction or disagreement. I like the...

Re: The Dangers of Dying

On the one hand, it is lore that Undying get reckless and dangerous. On the other, hearing people treat death as no big deal and saving the same person three times in an hour is not the most super fun RP, so I think doing something to make people pause and think twice would make the game a more fun ...

There are lore reasons these things work the way they do. What would be your proposed lore explanation for this?

Re: new guild choice: The Locksmith's Guild

Having an official locksmith "guild" just makes it more clear that thieves and Utasa are not "official" and kind of immediately outs them as shady, which is probably not desirable.

Re: Character Names and OOC tells

I think there is an appeal to having OOC names and IC names completely divorced, particularly when there is an OOC name shared between multiple characters and people don't want their alts known. If this were to happen, I'd hope it would keep that separation maintained.

Re: Suggestion: Replace Warden Combat Abilities

a druidry spell that could function as a 'magical bandage' I probably misrepresented the Lore side of it a bit by calling it a bandage spell. Rias explained that the Gaea can modify living things with the capabilities of other living things, which is how Chameleon works. In this case, the Gaea woul...

Suggestion: Replace Warden Combat Abilities

I suspect this is low-priority, even on the off chance anyone agrees with me, but it struck me as a little odd. I'm not sure if the longer-running Wardens are aware, as I think there have been some pretty big changes since they joined, but Staff to Stave is required to begin learning Druidry. I only...

"Arad" sounds similar, and is the name of the entire continent the game takes place on. Roughly half of it is under Quarantine.

Re: Briar's List of Probably Dumb Game Questions

1. There are clocks and firearms, but the construction of these is limited to largely one nation that occasionally smuggles or ships these goods to the Lost Lands. It would be hard to nail down a specific time frame as different nations have different levels of social/technological development, due ...

Re: Quickchannel Master and its unintended effects

The combat-side of your calculations is all assuming a perfection of timing that, quite frankly, doesn't exist. Doing it in combat seems tedious and is far more likely to get you killed by limiting your ability to respond to changes in the fight. As to the concerns you've posted about projection a c...

Warden Guild Rank Achievements

Many guilds (most, even?) have achievements attached to their guild ranks, along with nifty chat titles. Usually every 5 ranks or so. To my knowledge (and from discussing with other guild members), the Wardens do not. If we brainstorm some options, would staff be willing to implement them? This thre...

If you're holding a container while butchering, the meat will go inside it, much like foraging. The fat/sinew still goes to the ground, though, which might be good or bad depending on your needs.

Friend is super useful. It actually changes how some socials read when you're both friends of a certain level.

There's also 'enemy' which lets people get treated like hostile NPCs with targeting and such.

Re: THINK and RITUAL

Some rituals my character performs include spoken prayers. I often use 'recite' for this because it formats better. Is there a way to include the spoken portions for the staff to view? Or if you see a 'ritual' refer to speech, are you capable of checking the logs to see the spoken portions?

Re: Introduction system

Right now, I friend people who have introduced themselves, and add further information (Full name, IC titles, ESP color, important notes) via 'note add' Most RP games I've played have had some form of introduction system, though. A short description for people you don't know, then they can either 'i...

Re: The Masterful Conundrum

Historically, one of the primary function of real life guilds was to prevent members from underselling each other and blackballing anyone who didn't play along. The Artisans may have to get together and do what Locksmiths do already: set some standard prices and shun/beat the crap out of anyone who ...

Re: The Masterful Conundrum

I haven't seen the "don't pay more than 6000" problem. When I've seen prices, 6000 is more "I'll make it and you take whatever comes out" while actual masterwork crafts go for tens of thousands. So this person you were speaking with may be an anomaly. Though I'll be honest this is all from watching ...

According to the last post here, this is confirmed to be implemented. I've had some trouble figuring out the syntax, however.

Could someone confirm the syntax for repairing wood items with Druidry?

Perhaps add it to the wiki, if they have access?

Mage Candle and Fire Sphere

Mage Candle persists without channeling. As I understand it, channeled elements always dissipate, sooner or later, without a channel to maintain them. I did read an old post, from when hydromancy left people persistently drenched, that suggested Mage Candle had intended to cause reduced energy gener...
