Tactics Spar?

A new tactics mode that would lower melee rolls by 20% but lower damage cap of their strikes by 50%. This will represent holding back one's strength while sparing with another player. Does this sound good or does this sound too easily abusable?

Would it be fitting and less abusable if it was linked to the tutoring from one play to the next?

This isn't a bad idea, but I think it would simply lower the risk of skill training to a point where EVERYONE would spar rather than hunt, since there would be next to no reason not to spar in comparison.

There are already weak weapons that can be used for sparring. Put on some half decent armor to spar in and you're set.

Dagger: wooden dagger
Sword: wooden sword
Hafted: branch
Staff: staff
Polearm: hoe
Chained: farm flail
Brawling: regular punch and kick
